Some of you know what a Kiosk is and some do not. Well for those who don't a Kiosk is that small cart like "shop" in isle at the mall. Anyways, I was walking through the mall the other day and saw something that was pretty neat. Someone took a "claw machine" and modified it so that you could have 4 users at once, and made it into a kiosk. It got me thinking about what other types of businesses could be molded in a fashion that they also could be kiosks. Here are some of the benefits and downfalls that I find with kiosks.
Benefits
-May allow for no one to be their while sales are made
-Utilities are even because your usage is not going to differ from day-day
-Able to make your seasonal business available when you want it (i.e. Christmas wrapping)
-If you have employees they are kept to 1 maybe 2 working at a time
-Modern Kiosks have telephone,Internet, and electricity
-With modern computers some vending businesses can be monitored 24/7
-High traffic area, in other words people have to walk past your business
Downfalls
-Your rent may be higher because of a shorter lease (seasonal)
-You may not be able to place that type of vending machine in that location because of a larger more developed business has a contract with the mall.
-Many times when not busy employees may appeared bored means bad curb appeal to walkers by.
-Your theft rate may be higher because of people walking by and a small area for cameras to be placed, also when only one employee is working they are easily distracted.
These are just some of the things I can think of if you have more post them. I am interested in this type of business. Also if you have rented one of these share your experience.
